Charlie: The Coolest Dude Gets Groomed First

A magic transformation occurs when Giants are groomed.  The Giant and groomer both find it soothing and there is a gentle bonding between dog and human. Look at how special Charlie feels about himself! (Ed. note: even my 12 year old Giant loves to be groomed.)

Please check out Charlie after being groomed. Can’t you just imagine this gorgeous guy in your home everyday??

Charlie is waiting to find someone very special who will make sure he looks like this everyday.  Please be that person who will bring him home with you. Contact Us, Please.

(Ed. note: Charlie has a Donnerthal spot on top of the tip of his tongue.)

Bubba & Charlie UPDATE

Bubba and Charlie are now at a foster home nearby. They are getting plenty of special attention and that will include grooming! But let’s see what they look like today, before it happens!

Please consider giving Bubba & Charlie a new home with your family.

Bubba and Charlie Need Help

This is a very sad story coming out of Naples Florida tonight. A 62 year old Giant Schnauzer owner learned 3 weeks ago that she had stage 4 lung and liver cancer. She died yesterday morning.

This leaves the two 7 year old male Giants (very close in age), Bubba and Charlie, without a home. They are sweet, nice dogs. The owner did not have time to make plans for these fellows because of the seriousness of her illness.  The owner’s family is caring for them now but they will need a home very soon!

They get along great with people and like kids. They may play a little rough for small children. They are pretty mellow as far as activity level but are still playful and they get along well with other dogs. Their owner Judy was a groomer and they were always around other dogs.

We don’t think they would do well with cats. They are mostly house dogs and have been trained to go out to the yard for their business. Bubba is very smart and intuitive. He is the larger one. Charlie is more of a goofball. These guys are neutered. Please contact GIANT Rescue

Nuisance Needs a New Name (And Home)

admin note: I don’t see Nuisance at this shelter anymore.
Ok, I hate the name they have given this dog, but here he is and he needs a new home and NAME! He sure looks like mostly Giant Schnauzer to me.

Nuisance is located at:

The Hornell Animal Shelter

7649 Industrial Park Rd

Hornell NY 14843 607-324-1270

This is the information that they have posted about this fellow:

“My name is Nuisance and I was surrendered to the shelter in February 2010. I am a 2 year old neutered male Terrier mix. I absolutely looove to be around people. I am so friendly! I am a bigger dog, so I need a home where I can run. I have lots of energy! I am just a big teddy bear looking for a place to call home.”

Please contact The Hornell Animal Shelter if you are interested in Nuisance!

Adopt Two Giant Schnauzer Sisters!

Two Giant Schnauzer girls need a good home. Both have been rescued from a horrible puppy mill in Florida where they were forced to live in a small kennel and have puppies. They did not have food bowls and did not receive care from a vet and there was no A/C in their kennel.

They have been rescued by a friend who received word of this horrific scene. This person took the girls (they are believed to be sisters) into immediate care for 3 months.  Now under good care they have become Giants again. They were both heartworm positive but were treated and are now healthy. They are up to date with shots.

What they needed most was the ability to trust human beings again. With help of a dog trainer and intensive vet care we are happy to say that they are ready to be adopted. My vet has suggested a rescue organization to make sure they will be placed in good homes.

They will need someone with dog experience and willingness to spend time with them. They still need consistent training but are smart and eager to learn and please. They have been fostered since August 2009 and have receive the best care possible.

They are around 4 to 5 years of age. We would suggest homes without other animals and no kids. The home were they are now has a dog and two children and they get along with everybody. However, we have observed that they don’t really care much for the other dog in the house and they don’t know how to play with my kids.

They are still shy but curious and we have worked alot on their self-esteem with success. We take them to the dog park almost daily. They follow  every step we take and one girl still suffers from separation anxiety.

We need to find their final homes. We would very much appreciate your help in that matter. After all they’ve been through we want a loving and caring home for them so we can be sure that their lives will be in good hands.

Thank you very much for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Sheba The Queen

Have you ever gone to a reunion and seen someone who you had not seen in years? Do you know that feeling you have when they look better than you ever remember them looking?

Well, look at the newest snapshot portrait of Sheba lounging in front of her throne. We could all hope for a Giant’s coat to be this black, the paws groomed to perfection and each nail perfectly trimmed. We could all wish our dog could look this fit. What a beautiful Giant Sheba has turned out to be.

I just want to show you the first picture (Aug 09) we ever saw of Sheba so you have something to compare to.

Beautiful Sheba!

This is the latest picture of Sheba!

Sheba’s family was on their way to see their son at the Citadel in Charleston! She looks great and is very well loved!!

Nubian Looking For New Home!

We are asking for help in locating a foster placement and/or an adoptive home for a 5 year old spayed bitch, “Nubian”, located in Bowie, MD (outside of D.C.).

She is current on vaccinations and her only known medical issue is hypo-thyroidism for which she takes .7 mg BID thyroxine. She is good with strangers, children and other dogs.

Her current family feels they don’t have the kind of time for her that she needs. Because of travel etc. Nubian spends much of her time in various kennels. The current economy may be influencing this decision as well. The family did look into the local SPCA but don’t want to send her there. They have had her since she was a puppy. She was purchased from a breeder in Texas.

We are sadly OUT of foster homes in this area! We can use any and all suggestions!! If you think you can help please email us at rescue@cybergiants.com!

Thanks, Celia Vornholt

Sheba: Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Everyone is great! Miss Sheba is putting on some weight, getting some hair, and is SO MUCH FUN! She doesn’t like the water, unfortunately, but she loves just running around in the back yard. Kelley
