I have been going back into my archive of old photos and videos looking for my favorites of Chance. This video was taken in 2004 when Cassie was just a few months old. She is a wild puppy and annoys Chance endlessly. He ignores her for the most part until the end when he lets her know that he DOES NOT appreciate her getting the “rips.” He had an amazingly loud bark.

We would go to these woods nearly every day. Watch Chance carefully at how long he drinks in the creek, about a minute. Yes, that is a normal amount of water for a Giant Schnauzer to drink.

Cassie is already learning from Chance how to be off leash in the woods and you will see that she comes to me almost as soon as I call her. Training both Chance and Cassie to be off leash, but stay close, has made walking in the woods a wonderful time. I will always remember this day and miss these times very much.

Watch this amazing video of this Giant Schnauzer watching another Giant Schnauzer doing police work. Eddy is a very good example of how intelligent Giants are.

I admire how well cared for these Giants are.

We built this pond for Chance so he would have a place to get a drink and cool off in. He drank out of it nearly year round.

I thought I would start putting up some of my favorite pictures of Chance.

This was taken in June 2004 just after we had gotten Cassie. She was probably about 14 weeks old. She followed Chance around everywhere and mimicked him. He ignored her. This was so cute because they were laying exactly the same way under the table.

Just before Christmas I posted a cute video made by a Hungarian dog training club showing the dogs secretly decorating a tree for Christmas.  See this video.

Well, they have a new video out with the same doggie gang going to the beach. This one is a bit longer but even more fun than the Christmas video! I love it because there is the cutest Giant Schnauzer in it with natural tail and ears. I guarantee that you will really enjoy this.

Chance passed tonight in Mark’s arms. He was a good dog.

He always waited at the bridge for me.

Every Sunday since Chance was little Mark walks the dogs to the store to get the paper. He takes the long way through the wild areas beside the railroad tracks. There is a swamp back there and plenty of woods. It  is 2-3 hour round trip. Chance can no longer make this trip so he stays home with me.

This morning even Cassie found it tough going. We’ve had a lot of heavy wet snow over the last 5 days. You can see in this video that she has a lot of snow on her legs and has a hard time plowing through it. Chance has always loved to eat snow and he is outside a lot these days. Today he took two walks!

Today is Chance’s 12th birthday! We celebrated with $17. worth of T-bones!

Chance’s Dam was Skansen’s Time Machine and his sire was Skansen’s Take A Chance. (1998)

There have been several health bumps in his life but today he is still getting around ok, eating with gusto and keeping Cassie under control.
